History

The Upstate NY Postcard Club was first organized in February 1972. The first meeting was  held at the Sleepy Dutchman Motel  in Amsterdam, New York.  The club sponsored its first postcard show at Shaugnessy Hall  in Schenectady, New York on September  8, 1974.  In 1981 the club began meeting at the Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam on one Friday night a month.  In  2000 the annual show was moved to the Best Western Hotel in Amsterdam and meetings were scheduled for just two times a year, the first Saturday in April and November.  Since  2000,  the  club has sponsored an annual bus/van trip to various shows in the Northeast, and in  2009 began a summer picnic event at the River Road Park in  Niskayuna.  The picnics which are open to all members and guests include an auction of postcards and related items.  In  2013 the annual show ( our 40th ) was moved to the Elks Lodge in Troy, NY,  a more central  location for members and regular attendees.
